The Forum is held biennially under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation for the purpose of the public awareness campaign and development of the international students’ sport movement having its educational character. “The first thing I would like to thank the Krasnoyarsk citizens for is their attentive and very responsible attitude which they revealed from the moment of obtaining rights by Russia for staging of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019. We have always singled out that one of the very important elements of organising and holding of the Universiade is the presence here of Siberian Federal University. The existing base, city and University potential became crucial when taking the decision on forum holding exactly in Krasnoyarsk,” — pointed out the FISU President Oleg Matytsin. Awarding of the 2018 FISU Forum Holding Certificate took place at the scene of the new Congress Hall of Siberian Federal University which is the first completed venue of the Universiade Village where the information centre will be accommodated for the period of the University Games. Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary General, had an excursion in the building and pointed out that he is very satisfied with what he had seen. “This is not my first visit to Krasnoyarsk, in fact we have been following the construction of Siberian Federal University Congress Hall from the very beginning. This process can be compared with the delivery of a child as you see him developing and growing up, you feel anxious and glad. We see the readiness of Krasnoyarsk for work, we see the passion of enthusiasts of the Universiade. After the competitions are over, all this will remain as a quality legacy represented by Krasnoyarsk for the whole world,” said Eric Saintrond. It will be organised on the basis of Siberian Federal University and will last for six days. It is a big test event for Krasnoyarsk. We will be solving several global issues simultaneously: we are to present the infrastructure of the Universiade, the Universiade Village and to prove that we are able to hold major international events. Holding the forum for us is a point of honour. The 2018 FISU Forum Holding Certificate was awarded to SFU Rector FISU Evgeny Vaganov. “A wide range of issues will be discussed at the forum: the future of University sports, its influence on socialisation and so on. This is the image building event, in many respects, it is important for the University and for the region as well because the representatives of 50 world countries will get together here. The representatives of sports federations, students, sports leaders, functionaries of University sports get the possibility to meet and to discuss key issues of University sports development, education, culture and medicine,” - accentuated the SFU Rector. Let us recall that Budapest (Hungary) and Krasnoyarsk (Russia) qualified for the right of holding the Forum. On 30 June 2015, the Siberian city was elected as the capital of the Forum at the FISU Executive Committee meeting extending by that the tradition of holding the event in the host-cities of the future Universiades. Previously the forums were held in Gwangju city (South Korea) in 2014, in Taipeh city (Taiwan) in 2012, in Vigo city (Spain) in 2010. “FISU Forum will be held in Krasnoyarsk in August 2018. I believe that together with SFU we will conduct it on an honourable level.” –expressed confidence the Director General of the Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 Maxim Urazov.
